Basics of Addiction Treatment

This training will present addictions treatment for variety of perspectives, including a brief historical perspective of treatment in the United States, and the models of addiction treatment that are integrated into the current continuum of care for addiction treatment. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) principles of effective treatment, and the use of evidence-based treatment approaches will be presented and discussed as it relates to co-occurring disorders and special populations served. Throughout all of this information we will continually look at the role of culture on treatment delivery and resilience in individuals, treatment programs and their communities.
